Server via FMP9 Advanced

Featured Replies

Is this correct? That with a copy of FMP9 Advanced I can preview the user experience of running a solution via the Server, that I don't actually have to have a copy of FMP Server running? A colleague attempted to show me how, but couldn't remember the required steps, nor could we find documentation for this technique.

Would appreciate learning whether or not this feature is available and its requirements. I'm on a Mac.

Not too sure what you mean by "preview the user experience of running a solution via the Server". FMP Advanced does not do the same thing server does. It just extends what you can do in Pro.

If he is talking about running a peer to peer network, you can do that with just multiple copies of pro. You dont need advanced. The first box that opens the files acts as the host and the others will connect as clients. (Like a server - client) atmosphere.

However, there are many disadvantages to having a production setup as such. I would read past posting regarding the warnings of such.

Your colleague may have been talking about the capability of making a connection to a file being hosted by FMPA from itself. But that in [color:red]no way whatsoever mimics FileMaker Server.
