mikemccloskey Posted April 28, 2001 Posted April 28, 2001 I am having a problem with fm5 on my powerbook 400. When I quit, it is very slow in doing so and does it "rythmically". Almost like it is going to the hard drive and performing some function first. Odd, I know. Also when I empty the trash from the finder it does the same thing. Any help? thanks, mike
danjacoby Posted April 28, 2001 Posted April 28, 2001 How about when you boot up? Does that take a while? If so, it sounds like your hard drive is shot, and you need a new hard drive. Back up, and get to a repair shop.
BobWeaver Posted April 29, 2001 Posted April 29, 2001 Did this start happening for no apparent reason, or did it start after a disk or operating system upgrade? I had a similar problem on an old powerbook a while ago. The problem was with the disk driver. There was some incompatibility between it and the operating system's disk sleep function. I updated the driver and the problem went away.
mikemccloskey Posted May 1, 2001 Author Posted May 1, 2001 It started happening when I began to use my new powerbook 400 firewire. I was using an older powerbook g3 before. It doesn't seem to have a problem when I boot up. Also, when using other macs I have - no problem.
