cyberghozt Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I'm transfering records from an external data source to an existing table in my file.. It's been working just fine in fmpa9v3 however recently I upgraded to 10 and it's no longer working. I export just fine, but when I go to import and go through the regular procedures my results read: Import Records Summary: Total Records added/updated 1 Total Records skipped due to errors: 1 Total Fields skipped due to errors: 0 Table created: I see that the record was skipped due to an error but no error message shows up anywhere. I'm accessing a remote database that's hosted on the FMS10A. I've attempted to import it to same database but on my local computer and same thing happens so it's not the server.. Any suggestions? I've attempted to look for error logs or anything to hint at what the issue is but haven't been able to find any.. Please help!
IdealData Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 FM10 now supports .XLS and .XLSX for Excel - are you using the correct one? If you have a script then you may need to edit it.
cyberghozt Posted February 24, 2009 Author Posted February 24, 2009 Yeah I did notice that however I"m still exporting to .xls and importing from .xls. I've attempted to do this manually and it's giving me the same error that something's off with the record however it works just fine in 9v3.... It reads the data, the field names, matches up accordingly, just doesn't import after....
Dick in Singapore Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 I just put up 10, and have a similar problem. Under FMP7, 8, & 9 I've been importing daily .csv files, with 1st row matching names. No problem. Now, both for the existing script step, and File>Import menu, it doesn't want to match names -- no data is imported. I was able to get it to work manually, by switching back and forth among "arrange by" types until finally it took the "matching names" type. What finally did it was to un-tick "don't import first record", changing to "creation order", then back to tick "don't import first" and then changing to "matching names". Eh Voila!Whoa! Then next time the same problem. Then I got the script to work by performing WITH dialog, and doing the same try-this / try-that. But it reverts on the next run. I can hardly expect users to do this, eh?
StudioData Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 I just put up 10, and have a similar problem. Under FMP7, 8, & 9 I've been importing daily .csv files, with 1st row matching names. No problem. I'm having major problems importing into FM10 Advanced. I've tried importing directly from another FileMaker 10 file. Crashes every time. I even copied the table into a brand new file and tried to import into it. At least this didn't crash, but at the end, the dialog said: Total Records added/updated: 99 Total Records skipped due to errors: 99. Absolutely no clue as to what those errors are. Where do you start? I just need to get the data in. Any ideas anyone??
