Registry Key for File Cache

Featured Replies

Hi,

With an installation file I can write registry keys during installation. So I can able to prevent user name dialog box which appears at the first time run-time executed.

Now I want to increase file cache from its default value (8) to 128. But I can not find related registry key to change cache size.

How could I find that registry key. Or is there any way to change cache size automatically within FileMaker or Installation file.

Thanks

F. Osman Cabi

It's right there with the other preferences (key name = Cache Size)

in

HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareFileMakerFileMaker Pro10.0APreferences

But it doesn't exist for the default value. Only if you deviate from the default is the key generated.

128MB of cache is a lot though! That's the amount of data that you can lose if the client crashes or his network connection drops... Why do you think you need that much cache?

thanks for you reply, is it applicable to FM8.5 too?

I will run time my solution and no need for network connection. And data in the file is not much important. Because the user imports about 300000 records weekly (after deleting old records). Importing operation from excel file is time consuming job. I think if I increase cache size it runs faster.
