March 3, 200916 yr I have a portal on a layout in which I need to show a number of fields and buttons (so that the portal row looks like a record in list view as opposed to table view). How can stop the portal row from showing as active if the user happens to click in the portal row? I want the user to be able to click on the buttons as normal. All the fields in the portal have been set to not allow entry in Browse/Find modes. Any advice?
March 4, 200916 yr Author I've attached a simple file to show the problem I'm having. Basically the buttons do work as expected and tranfer the Qty value as required, but if I click outside these buttons (but still in the portal) the portal is highlighted. How can I get around this? portal_issue.zip
March 14, 200916 yr The free space within the row must have something in it or it will act this disagreeable way. See revised file. I placed a yellow rectangle behind the fields and buttons. Attach a script or specify button to it (I had mine go to your first >>> button). YOu then attach a script (or use Specify Button) to the rectangle to simply Commit Records/Requests or do something such as go to a field or, as I did, using Go To Object[], jumping to one of your buttons. It won't eliminate the black flash produced by a script being fired but at least the entire portal won't remain black, staring your User in the face and yes, I dislike it as well. I am unsure that using a portal here is the best UI. Have you considered just having a list of the Products in the portal and, when User selects one to modify, it appears above the portal for 1-to-1 modification of the quantities? I would be happy to produce a sample of a different approach but I would need more information. I cannot tell what the true relationships are for, ie, what is the purpose here? Are there lineitems on an invoice, products to add into a lineitem or what? It makes me nervous when I see TextA, TextB, TextC and TextD and then the data is ProductA, ProductB, ProductC and ProductD. It IMPLIES that you should have another table for these items. We would be more than happy to provide further options if we knew what this sample data represented. LaRetta :wink2: portal_issueREV.zip
