FM 10 Bug?? Show Value List with Go To Object script step

Featured Replies

Here's a seemingly simple problem:

I would like to use the Go To Object script step to go to a field with a pop-up menu, and display the pop-up menu automatically. In other words, when the user clicks a buttons, he is taken to a field by object name, and the value list shows right away.

I've been playing with the different commands, but all I manage to accomplish is going to the field and selecting its content.

Any ideas?

Ok, maybe this is a bug in FileMaker 10???

If the field does NOT show the arrow for the pop-up menu, the Go To Object script step produces the menu. If the arrow is shown, it selects its contents instead... wired!

Judging by the behavior you’re describing, I assume you‘re talking about a drop-down list? I’ve never been able to get a pop-up menu to open on entry (in Mac OS, anyway), in any version of FileMaker; you absolutely must click on it. :

Apparently this is now possible (Mac OS X, FileMaker 10), as long as you don't show the arrow. Don't ask me what the connection is here, but it works.

The field needs to have a Drop Down List, and "Include arrow to show and hide list" disabled. Then the only script step you need is:

GoToObject (ObjectName)

and the list pops-up.
