R2D2 Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 I have bought a 3rd party solution with Full Access and privileges to modify and use it in my solutions. Can I import it to my solution as one of the tables ? Is includes several Custom Functions. Are they included in the import process ? Yes, it could be possible to link to another file from my solution, but my FM hosting allows only one file.
Fenton Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 Yes, you can Import a table. It is an option in the receiving tables list, which is at the top right of the Import dialog. Drop it down and at the bottom you'll see the option to create a new table. You will need to rename it afterwards, and its new table occurrence on the Relationship Graph. However, since you have Advanced, and likely don't care about the data in the other file, it would be easier to just copy/paste the table from the other file into yours. Then you'll get the correct table name. But no, you can't Import Custom Functions. Which is a bit tedious when files have a lot of them. Hopefully the other developer included a commented section at the top of each one's calculation; which makes it a lot easier to remember its name, and its parameters. You can copy/paste these into their respective boxes, after pasting the whole thing into the calculation area. But there is one glitch when doing this, especially with parameters. Pasting into the name box does not seem to activate it, so the [+] is not active. What I do is add a space, then delete it; that does the trick. Or if it's short just type it.
R2D2 Posted April 18, 2009 Author Posted April 18, 2009 Ok. That's what I expected also. There is about 20 Custom functions, so I'll have a big copy-paste job ahead waiting for me... :o
R2D2 Posted April 19, 2009 Author Posted April 19, 2009 (edited) Hmmm... That doesn't seem to work with FM10. I can GET Custom Functions from a file but SETting them to new file don't work. Or then I just cannot use it... EDIT// Yes, I just didn't know how to use it. Now I do. EDIT2// Uh oh... Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't. I have no idea why it worked 4 times but not any more. Edited April 19, 2009 by Guest
Lee Smith Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 I have had trouble with version 3, so I usually use version 2. I have not notice any difference using either version in either v 9 and 10. Make a bug report to myFMButler. Lee
R2D2 Posted April 20, 2009 Author Posted April 20, 2009 Yes, I have 3.1.0 version in use. I can't find older version for Windows. Bug report is done.
