Parts and Product Inventory

So I need a way to keep track of the number of parts I have and determine if I need to order more parts to build a product.

I work with a company that makes circuit boards. We make a few different boards that use a similar set of parts. The parts must be bought in bulk. This means that all the parts don't need to be re-ordered at the same time.

for example, we have board A and board B.

Board A uses parts 1,2,3,4 and 5.

Board B uses parts 3,4,5,6 and 7.

each board needs different amount of different parts.

how would you suggest using FM to keep track of inventory.

I would like to be able to tell FM I want to make a given board and get back a list of the parts I need to order before the board can be made. Then once the board is made I would like FM to automatically updated the inventory of the parts.

currently I have three tables. One that contains a list of all parts and quantity. The other two contain list of the parts and amount of parts require to build the board.
