Is there a way to save the page setup savings with a layout?

ie, I created 2 layouts. I want one to be portrait letter, and the other is legal landscape.

Do I need to create a script for this, or remember to change the setting or what?

You'd script it. You could create a button that navigates from one layout to another. The script attached to that button would include the script step Page Setup [Restore].

btw, Page Setup is needed only when printing.
