printouts with varying number of characters

there is a database that has fields in it that vary in the length

For instance, a department could have a field that is only 2 characters (like "na" for not applicable) and another department could have an entry for that same field that is over 6,000 characters long.

How do I make a printout that is presentable to both departments, without cutting off any values?

You can make that field bigger than it needs to be and then use sliding. The setting is found under the Format Menu.
