The Database Server is Not Available

Featured Replies

I've got Filemaker Server on my local machine. I launched the Admin Console but upon clicking the Databases option I get the following error.

The Database Server is not available.

Admin Console functionality is limited to Filemaker Server Overview and the Log Viewer. To use other functionality, please start the Database Server again.

I tried that and nothing. I'm on a Macintosh platform.

Anything I can try?

Dom

Try starting the deamon using the terminal command line. The magic words are in the server admin guide (I'm not a command line guy and don't know them off by heart).

Are you also running FMP on the same machine?

FMS and FMP won't run on the same machine.

The daemon may need startingat the terminal. Also, this may be as simple as checking to see if the database server is actually running by clicking on the start icon in the upper left hand corner.

Steven:

Tried running the daemon from the terminal.

sudo launchctl start com.filemaker.fms

Authenticated when asked.

I also clicked the Start Database Server button.

I'm not running FMP on the same machine.

Not sure where to go at this point.

Thanks Vaughn - I tried that but it didn't seem to work.
