Is there way to group portal rows? ie instead of showing a value for each item, show the sum of each category's value?

Does anybody know how to do that?

First of all I'd suggest that perhaps a portal is not the best way to go, especially now that FM10 features "dynamic reports" (subsummaries in browse mode and live sorting).

That said, to achieve what I think you mean you'd need to create dummy records in the related table and some other contortions.

An easier possibility is to filter the portal by category.

Ok, I have not been aware about those FMP 10 features and will have a good look into this.
