aussie Posted January 29, 2002 Share Posted January 29, 2002 hello everyone, i am relatively inexperienced with fm but have done a lot of work with msaccess (forgive me please ). i have files for job/item/products with the relationships 1 job to many items. 1 item to many products. i want to select a job and have a portal showing the related items and within the items portal have another portal showing the related products for that item in the portal row. is this possible? any help would be greatly appreciated. Rumble Seat Posted February 5, 2002 Share Posted February 5, 2002 Use the middle file (Items) in List view. The header can show fields from parent Jobs file. Each record in the list can have a Portal to Products. In Jobs, just use a script to Go To Related Records (show only related Items). I've formally requested this functionality from FileMaker... we'll just have to wait and see in the meantime the above does work for some applications.
