June 12, 200916 yr Newbies I have a client database which has a number of layouts, each layout is accessed via one of the menu links along the top. These are linked to scripts. The picture below shows a text box with an "Update Status" button. This automatically inserts todays date and time, after which I can then type a note. What I would like to do is to change the script on the "Update Status" button so when I click again the contents of the text box is copied and then deleted. I would like it to then be placed into another text box in a different layout (see picture 2), and for this to be placed at the top of the text box, moving previously placed notes down leaving a two line gap between them. The idea is that I can then build up a history record of notes whilst keeping the main input layout uncluttered. Does anyone have any ideas how or if this is possible. Thanks. Picture 1 Picture 2
June 12, 200916 yr I think that you should use a related notes table along with perhaps a portal to display.
June 18, 200916 yr Author Newbies Thanks for the input, I have managed to work out the script which if you click the Link you can see the details of the script steps I have taken. This works great. By clicking the associated button, the script copies the previous text in the Status Code Text Box, into the Notes Text Box. It moves the existing notes in the Notes Text Box down and inserts the copied text at the top, leaving one line between the new note and the previous. The script then clears the Status Code Text Box and inserts the relevant date and time for the updated status text to be inserted. It may be a longwinded way round it but it works with one click.

June 19, 200916 yr Author Newbies Thanks Lee, I have made a slight amendment to the script insofar as, if I was creating a file for a new client I didn't want a blank note to be added to the Notes Text Box with just a date and time. So the solution is: Click Link to View This way you can add the date and time into the Status Code Text Box without copying anything to the notes Text Box. Next time you need to update the Status Text Box, the previous input will then transfer into the Notes Text Box. :smirk: Edited June 19, 200916 yr by Guest
