Where is my Import.log?

Featured Replies

The Import Summary dialog box displays an overview of your import or copy process. For more details, click Open Log File to display error messages.

If the Import.log file already exists, FileMaker Pro appends new errors to the end of the existing file.

As can be seen in the attached screenshot, there is no 'Open Log File' to click. No log file is created either.

If I copy/paste a field, it does create an Import.log file - but errors during importing records do not get logged in it (and still no button to click, either).

What am I missing here?

Question, Michael ... is this an import set to ADD with field-level validation? That fails for me as well (doesn't create the log) on both 9.0v3 and 10.0v2. But otherwise I seem to always get the log.

The lack of Open Log File button is obvious error - I've always had to search the for import.log which can sometimes be stored in the prior place an FM file existed and not the current location. But that is not the case here - I searched my entire hard drive and no log file was generated.

No, it happens (or rather doesn't happen) no matter which option I choose - add, update existing or update matching. Even though errors are reported in every case, no log is created and if a log already exists it is not being modified.

Yes, errors are due to field validation.
