sandyinlet Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 I'm in the process of building a scripted routine to port my client's data from their current solution into an update, where scripts, fields, TOs etc. have been revised. However it's possible, indeed probable, that the two files will have a different set of accounts and passwords. I don't want to inconvenience the users by having missing accounts or changed passwords. Is there a way around this problem? With appreciation.
mr_vodka Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 You could authenticate on the server and manage the users there.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Excellent suggestion, John. That's one of the principal reasons that we have External Authentication: to get the Accounts and passwords out of the files. Steven
Steven H. Blackwell Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Take a look in the External Authentication Forum under FileMaker Server area. That may give you an idea. Basically you take the Accounts out of the files and run them on the server. Steven
