Does anyone know how to resolve this? I've recently taken over support for fm in my company and I'm new to filemaker. We have fm5 server, currently with 128 hosted files. Frequently, my users request that a copy of a file be sent to them, so I close it, ftp it, attach it to an email and send it. They typically rename the copy, delete all records from it, update some layouts and send it back to me. Then I ftp it to the server, move it into the correct directory and using my local fm5 pro with server admin plugin, I try to 'open' it. When I choose the file, I get this message... "Error occurred; unable to open file." nothing else, no error # or anything. I know that sometimes it's because the file isn't set to 'multi-user', but for other files it still happens. Any ideas?

If the file you have back is renamed the FM Server ignore it because, at the FM server start time, this filename was not included in the list of files to be opened: this may produce an 'open error' at your workstation.

Also check the max. number of files in the FM server admin. panel.

Regards.
