dgroyal Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I realize that this is probably a dumb question, but before we upgrade, I just want to make sure that I won't need to change everyone's clients if we upgrade the server. We want to take advantage of the web features of server 10. Right now, we're using server 8, and everyone has 8.5 clients. Our databases are in .fp7 format. If we go from server 8 to 10, will we need to change the clients / database formats as well? Thanks a lot! Dave
IdealData Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 The 8.5 clients will continue to operate as they always have done - their will be no gain or loss. Be aware that if you program any post 8.5 features using FMP 10 then 8.5 clients won't run those features.
jamesducker Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Be sure to update to the most recent version of FM10 server. Early releases of 10 had some problems if client and server were not on the same version... but generally speaking it is indeed absolutely no problem. Hope that helps. James
