July 25, 200124 yr Newbies I have fm server 3.0 on a mac. many other macs using fm 4.0 & 4.1 set to APPLETALK. I just added a pc running fm4.1 and it does not see any of the server files. How do I tell the server to communicate using appletalk and tcp/ip?? Any ideas what I am doing wrong?? [ July 25, 2001: Message edited by: brent green ]
July 26, 200124 yr Yeah check the TCP/IP settings, also if you can, restart the Server and watch the spash screen to see if TCP/IP shows up. I'm not sure (it's been a while since I've used Server 3) but I seem to remember that you could install it with only one protocol, and when I switched from appletalk to TCP/IP I had to go back and select TCP/IP as an option during the install. (not sure if it was because I was doing a 'custom' install or not). Something to check out if you're still stuck. -A

Try switching one of the Macs to TCP/IP, it might be that you network is not setup for TCP/IP communication.
July 31, 200124 yr Newbies FMP server 3 will happily serve via Appletalk and IP (and IPX for that matter) simultaneously. My guess is that in this case either the network just isn't set up for ip, or the server doesn't have an ip address. Of course make sure that the PC client is set to use ip and not ipx. Once all is set it should find a server on its own subnet automatically.
