How to disable Window > New Window

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm trying to disable the New Window menu item by creating a new custom menu, but I can't seem to add a Window Menu Item...

Thanks,

Michael

If you start with a new custom menu, you can choose FileMaker commands. To make it easier on you can sort by the "appears on" column.

Check out this site Link and do a search for [color:blue]Developer Tips, there are two Development Time Savers and Using Developer Controls that show some thing that you can do. You have to have the Developer Edition of FileMaker, and you have to join ISO FileMaker Magazine to see the full versions of most of his good stuff. It isn't that expensive to join though.

What I'd like to do is either:

1) Duplicate the Window menu, then remove the menu item New Window; or

2) Create a new Window menu from scratch, adding all the submenus except for the New Window.

First option fails because I can't duplicate the Window menu. Is it just me? (I can't seem to duplicate Format either, as it the case of all menus that come within square brackets.)

Second option fails because while I can create a menu called Window, I can't add all the nice submenus I'd like to.

So I am at a bit of a loss...

Thanks,

Michael

Michael, I feel your pain. Presently with FMP's custom menus, there is no way to reproduce the list of all open windows.

MrVodka, it works. Thanks.

So it appears that you can't start with a Window menu. You created a custom menu, and then added commands. I was trying to add submenus, instead.

Again, thanks for the help.

Michael
