drrehak Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I have FMS 9 and read with interest the possibility of getting a corrupt file with a power outage. I am waiting delivery of a APC power supply with powerchute software (I think it will send commands for proper shutdown). Do I need to close the files first, then stop server? or can I just stop server? On restart, I have read to disable the automatic restart of hosted file. How else should I restart the hosted file? I dont want to do this manually everytime there is a power failure! thanks in advance!
drrehak Posted August 21, 2009 Author Posted August 21, 2009 great. thanks. easy enough to close first, then stop. what about the restart process?
mr_vodka Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I believe that the daemon service should still be running when the server come back up. I think that you can have it scripted to start the filemaker server process back up. Personally, I normally just manually restart it.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Proper sequence of events: Disconnect users Close files Stop database server Stop FMS service The OS level Control Panel can be left to automatically restart the service. However, I would [color:red]notset the database server to restart automatically. If an inelegant event has happened, you want to know about it so you can assess damage to the files. Steven
