"Anybody out there", who can help?

We are hosting several FileMaker Files on a Windows NT Server (FileMaker Server -Version3).

After we upgraded the HW on the NT Server, (Faster Processor, new Hard Drives more Memory and new Ethernet card and NT4 Service Pack4 to NT4 Service Pack6a) certain files are changing ON ITS OWN from Multi User to Single User??!?

I am getting the following message: "FileMaker cannot host a file because of a network error. Files marked as Multi User will not be available over the network (10048)"

There were never any problems before with these files.

Another strange thing, which is happening now is, that when I copy the FileMaker Files via our TCPIP Network (Fast Ethernet with 3-Com Gigabit switches) to a Apple Mac, as a Back-up, the Icons of the files on the Mac do not show anymore as a FileMaker Icon but as a PC icon. This also never happened before?!?

However I can fix the "User Problem" by stopping the FileMaker Server, opening the problem files individually, changing them to Multi User, closing those files and restarting the FileMaker server again.

But this is of course no solution.

Now I hope, that may be someone has any idea how to fix. Everything indicates as a hardware problem. But why is it then only on certain files?

I hope to hear from somebody.

Many warm regards from South Africa

I'm having this same problem....it had happened on a win2k server to only one file for one client, and then stopped so I thought nothing of it. Now, out of the blue, another client who is running FMServer on OS X and has been for nearly a year, has started having this problem with random files. Is there any reason why you can think of that this is happening? The files are doing exactly what Andreas wrote above.

Thanks.
