I've been racking my brain trying to remember the name of a function that will take the input of a field and then 'filter' it through a string for compliance with the characters in that string.

For example: x=instring("abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz")

.. would make sure that x only contains lower character letters.

I've seen this and have looked in 4 books and the "DEVELOPER's CARD for fm PRO" but can't find it.

If you know what I am looking for, I would appreciate it if you would pass me the name... thanks...

what do you want to happen to the letters with caps?

ignor them, or convert them to lower case?
