Tom Kennedy Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I have some sub-summary fields that I need for table view but do not want to see in form view. Is there a way I can hide the sub-summary fields in form view but not in table view?
Søren Dyhr Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Couldn't you dim them into the background by conditional formatting, and remove access to them in the first place? The formatting will need this: http://fmhelp.filemaker.com/fmphelp_10/en/html/func_ref2.32.88.html But I'm thinking is it worth it ... why not dupe the layout and remove field in the new layout? It seeem like you won't embrace the developer takes full control with the users interactions? --sd
Lee Smith Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Maybe one of the tips found in this video Link will Help. Lee
Søren Dyhr Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Another reason for refraining from bloating each layout with an omni presence of summary fields is this: http://www.fmforums.com/forum/showtopic.php?tid/210736/post/338841/fromactivity/myposts/#338841 I would even try to use the visibility trick here.... --sd
Lee Smith Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Version 9, oops, I think the tips by Matt required version 10 do to the use of Script Triggers. Visibility, and conditional formatting probably would do what is asked. I would also consider just creating a List View with all of the fields needed there, and delete the fields to be hide on the Form View if there isn't a need for them anyway. Lee
Søren Dyhr Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 sub-summary fields that I need for table view I'm not sure Lee, the use of sub summary fields in table view is a fm10 thing. http://tokerud.typepad.com/filemaker/2009/02/subhead-and-subtotal-bliss-in-table-view-with-filemaker-pro-10.html --sd
