Making a system Multi-User

Featured Replies

Greetings.

I have created an FMP system (on a Mac) for a large yoga studio to track students and classes. It

Using FMP over WAN even with broadband Cable/DSL/T1 is way too slow.

Another thought :

At location one setup:

1 Server

1 Client

1 Client Running Timbuktu

At location 2

you can have a mac running Timbuktu to access the machine at the first location.

Since you are only sharing screen images and keyboard clicks and mouse movements. There is much less bandwidth transfer. This is by far faster than a WAN solution.

The alternative to this is Citrix , or perhaps redevelop the solution to web enable it, perhaps CDML or Lasso.

I've measured FM-FM connection on 115k serial line and everything was very fast with 1 exemption: PICTURES!

FM or PC involved also compressed data so transfers where twice the speed.

For data, FM is working on this line faster, than on AppleTalk. But you cannot have single picture on any transferred layout. Then it will be slowwww.

10Mb Ethernet on Macs is around 400k/sec and at max 800k/sec on PC and FM is quite fast on this.
