Random import to a blank field?

Featured Replies

On my import from excel I have my fields set for the data I want from excel. However on a blank field that will be used for something else that I have not touched yet I get data from the excel file. Its random fields too. I wouldn't even know where to start on how to duplicate it.

My import is coming from a file with 32 tabs of data each tab is set and get every piece of data I want. However if I delete the blank field it then gets thrown into a field that is set for a calc.

Anyone seen this before?

I'm not sure what you mean by Tabs, I guessing you mean the cells? I'm really not sure that I'm understanding you correctly, and without seeing your two files, I'm only guessing here.

However, it seems you are deleting a column of data because it has random data in the cells. If you have set you FileMaker File up to import this cell, and you delete it, your whole import will shift over one column.

To simplify what I read, lets say you have 3 cells in the Excel file, and 3 fields in the FileMaker file.

Cell 1	Cell 2	Cell 3

Name	address	phone

Lets say it is the Cell 2 that has this random data, and you just delete the Column. You are now only importing the 2 cells of data, and your field Phone will end up in Cell 2

Cell 1	Cell 2	Cell 3

Name	phone
