can there be a button in a record to lock the record?

Is there a way to make a button (Script) to lock a record thereby safeguarding the editing of that record?

I tried the method described but I couldn't get it to work. I have enclosed a file with 2 records. The user is admin and no password. maybe someone can show me what I did wrong because I can edit it. This is the post that I was working with

You need to create an account that uses the "lock" privilege set. The restriction will apply only when you log in using such account.
