September 23, 200916 yr Thumbnails are saved as either PNG or JPG. So if the original file is not a PNG or JPG, the new file extension is added onto the filename. Also, the directory the thumbnail is placed in contains an identifier for the max width, height, resolution, and possibly other parameters specified in the URL. This enables SuperContainer to locate the cached files for a given HTTP request.
