Newbies timboellis Posted September 28, 2009 Newbies Posted September 28, 2009 How can I setup a field so that you can write to the field which is going to be called diary , so that you can enter notes then it will add that note with a time stamp within the logs but you are not able to remove the notes already there?
Peter (duksis3) Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 I quickly make sample file. Script and Script trigger. Diary.fp7.zip
Lee Smith Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 (edited) Script Triggers don't exist before Version 10. There are a couple example at Databasepros.com Here And here Edited September 28, 2009 by Guest
mvincenti Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 To extend this question; I like the provided sample database but I'm wondering if there is a way to automatically (dynamically) shrink the size of the text box so that not all entries take up the same amount of space. I'd be satisfied with a "largest" size which then displays the scroll arrows if the text content exceeds the text box (field size) but it is very ugly to have all that empty space for no reason.
Lee Smith Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Read about Slide/Printing. You can not shrink a field, or enlarge one for that matter, in browse mode. You can shrink it though for printing (or viewing it in Preview Mode) It is done much like you said. Make the field the size needed for the largest expected text. Go into Layout View, highlight the field, go to the Main Menu >> Format >> Set Sliding / Printing (this option is also available by Right Click your mouse), and set it to Slide Up. HTH Lee
