February 20, 200223 yr I don't know if anyone is experiencing this. We have FM Server 5.5 running on a G4. During peak times, when someone initiates a find, they have been getting the "network" cursor which stalls their session, as well as the server. This has been happening everyday now for the past few weeks. - We have 68 dbs running with an average of about 40+ users accessing them. - We have tried recovering EACH file, just in case something was damaged. - We have read through the performance section of the FM Server manual and everything appears correct. - We actually just recently switched our files to another seperate server and the problem still persists. I don't know what else to do. Help??
February 20, 200223 yr RE: "The package said Windows 95 or better... so I bought a Macintosh!" Good for you. But maybe the 95 will be better in this case Anyway is the FM always as Front active application? Mac OS allocates way to little processing time to background tasks. And usually all the CPU cycles when dialog box is open to that application. In another words -- run only FM server as the top application on that Mac and never ever work in Finder.
March 6, 200223 yr Hi, Did you get to the bottom of this, because I've got a similar issue among the problems that I'm experiencing, except that under OS10.1 the server does not crash, but just shuts down. Unlike pre-OS10 where the server would crash. I've currently got a thread going so I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks, Sean
