David-66 Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 I too am new to FileMaker was looking to do the same thing, but after many Google searches I have found that the only way is to copy and paste or, create the layout with the menu buttons you wish to use, then to create a new layout, duplicate the main layout and make your changes. If there is a better way, I would like to hear it as well. Dave
Lee Smith Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 I would recommend you look at the tutorials that came with your FileMaker Application. We have a Resource Topic that our members have reviewed and given their recommendations on. You might find thise sites useful http://www.databasepros.com/resources.html http://www.nightwing.com.au/FileMaker/demos.html http://www.filemakermagazine.com/ http://www.briandunning.com/filemaker-custom-functions/recentlist.php http://seedcode.com/ There are others, but these should keep you busy. mfl Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Hello, I've been on FM since Aug. This thread has peaked my interest. I got to think back to web dev where one can create a webpage with a menu using SSI (server side includes) allowing one to have the same menu across multiple pages and only need to make changes to the menu once. Is it possible to say create in FM 3 layouts Header layout Body layout Footer layout and be able to have all 3 active and available at the same time or would one layout overlay the other etc.. Just a thought Michael
mfl Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Darlan, I've been able to find some other training resources. You can view a selection of videos online but it is only a fraction of the DVD they offer for sale. The sites are http://www.vtccanada.com/can/titles/filemaker-pro-10-beginner.html http://www.vtccanada.com/can/titles/filemaker-pro-10-intermediate.html http://www.vtccanada.com/can/titles/filemaker-pro-10-advanced.html There are also these links which are probably U.S. based... http://www.vtc.com/products/FileMaker-Pro-10-Beginner-Tutorials.htm# http://www.vtc.com/products/FileMaker-Pro-10-Intermediate-Tutorials.htm# http://www.vtc.com/products/FileMaker-Pro-10-Advanced-Tutorials.htm#
