yup I had tried that but it quits the kiosk version instead of minimizing it...

Presumably you want to minimise the Kiosk to go to another application. Cannot you use the Alt + Tab keys?

Actually, my free Display Toolbox plugin allows scripts to dynamically turn on/off kiosk mode-like features (the menu bar and the desktop) while allowing the keyboard shortcuts to still work.
