Largest Database you have ever built

Featured Replies

I was thinking about this the other day,

Just curious, anyone can throw there numbers in...

What is the largest database you have ever built.

Like what is the most amount of fields you have ever added to a table.

Or the Most amount of table occurrences in one database you have ever made.

Most amount of records you have ever put in a file.

Or even, what is the largest database file size you have ever made.

As I build databases, I wonder if I should put a cap on the amount of fields, tables, occurrences, size...etc...... I would be curious to hear some of the different sizes of databases people have built, and still have a fully stable solutions.

We have all read that Filemaker is capable of gargantuan amounts of data, and so far it has handled pretty large amounts of data for me with ease... i would be curious how big people have actually gotten it.

I haven't gotten too large - about 500,000 records, maybe 300 table occurences.

Filemaker gets slow...especially when doing finds and sorting and portals populating.

If you're not storing images and files in the DB it usually isn't that bad.

I have worked on some large databases. On in particular comes to mind with more than a million records. It had a number of files, some larger than 5GB.

For an advertising company. About 10 years worth of data.

As long as you only find on indexed fields and be patient when closing/opening the database on the server no troubles.

I have one file that contains one table with one field and 2.5 million records. (Is a National Do Not Call List for 4 states)
