I prefer setting up my layouts with menus on the left edge, similar to web pages. Is there a way to do this on a list without putting the list through a portal?

Thanks, I was thinking of doing the two files thing but hadn't thought of the double click problem.

I've seen similar things done by using two files and arranging the windows on the screen so one is vertical and to the left of the other. You will have to double click the buttons, as the first click is needed to bring the left window to the front. Not a great solutions, but I don't know of any other way. -bd

I do this with all my solutions in Windows. I could "twist your arm" and give you a sample in Windows if you can use it.
