Creating Backup file with Bound Program

Featured Replies

I have a Phys Ed program for schools which I bound with Developer Edition 4. My problem is that I have a Backup script that was supposed to create a file called backup.fp3, but the client doesn't have filemaker. What steps should I take to make sure the historic data can be seen and accessed.

Any help gratefully accepted !

Save it as some kind of delimited text file, such as a CSV. This can be edited from anything, I especially like using Excel.

Thanks Kurt - I'll do it that way.

Grant,

You can also use the Troi Files plug-in, (free trial available from)

http://www.troi.com/software/fileplugin.html

and create the backup in your native bound file extension, if that will be of any value.

Gary

If you are using FMP 5 to bind your solutions and your files allow exporting of data, your solution will allow for creating a copy of the file that will open using the runtime engine, or exporting the data to a FileMaker Pro file that will also open using the runtime engine - with no other plug-ins, etc. This applies to bound solutions on both MAC and Windows platform solutions.
