Hello!

I have a bound solution using Filemaker Developer 5.

I have been opening the bound solution back into Filemaker to modify & have found a strange occurance. I have a print routine setup in the form of a script - When executing it through Filemaker there is no problem & my default Page Size is A4. However, when running it as a stand alone solution, the Paper Size reverts to US Letter??

Any ideas

Hmmmm I have no experience with bound files. If on a Mac, have you specifically performed a page setup command and saved it using the bound application?

My solution has currently been bound through FM Developer for PC. I have opened the relevent database table & performed a page setup and set it to A4. I have also ensured that the default paper size in Control Panels/Printers is set to A4.

This seems to make no difference - I still get US Letter when running stand alone & printing.

hmm, I was just running the print command as a script step which has no restore option. By using the "Print Setup[restore,no dialog]" this seems to cure the problem.

I have one further question though.

If you are shipping a runtime filemaker product & you use the above print setup restore command, will a users machine look for that specific printer + setup and fail to find it - resulting in the original issue?

Hi Matt,

If you are on Windows the print / restore script step will restore the print settings, paper size, portrait / landscape etc. But it will not pick or save printer selections. A user of your runtime will default to their own default printer. You will need a plugin to make printer selections, for setups with multiple printers, like ProPrint from Afeina Software. www.afeina.com

Hope this helps!
