DaleF Posted August 24, 2001 Posted August 24, 2001 Creating runtime in Kiosk mode (in windows), makes it a hassle for user to access other pgms, as user is forced to mess with ALT/TAB keys to get to other programs, and a novice user would probably find it difficult to get back to the desktop. Therefore, I am opting to scrap Kiosk mode, and create regular Runtime versions. I know that a customized Help and renaming of Script Menu heading can be done, but can any of the other standard FMP Menu selections be customized, in addition to the runtime feature of "Permanently prevent modification of database structure"? Basically, I would like the user to be restricted to the maximum (as in Kiosk mode) with a fully customized main menu bar. Is that possible?
SteveB Posted August 24, 2001 Posted August 24, 2001 There is a plugin called SecureFM that will allow you to selectively remove and command and the entire menu(s). Go to 'www.newmillennium.com'. The plugin is very easy to use, but I don't know about renaming a given command. Steve
garhop Posted August 24, 2001 Posted August 24, 2001 Dale, The only way to get close to what you want to do is by using the plug-in Steve suggested Gary
rm24 Posted August 24, 2001 Posted August 24, 2001 I would also like to scrap the Kiosk version of my runtime but run into the same problem that you do with not being able to customize menu items. SecureFM is one option but there is also a script step in FileMaker 5.5 that seems to allow you to do this. I found this info at http://www.digfm.org/five5/scripts55.html. Good luck to you. J-
