rmsherman Posted September 5, 2001 Posted September 5, 2001 my fm runtime database runs on all macs except the user's imac. the imac message is that the disc is unreadable. Any thoughts? Thanks Bob Sherman
LiveOak Posted September 5, 2001 Posted September 5, 2001 Which disk is it referring to? The hard disk? The CD? Some CD drives in some iMacs won't read some brands of writable CD's. The CD's capable of being written a high speed seem to be more problematic. It also might be a problem with the file structure on that iMac. Make sure you run one of the appropriate utilities (Norton, Diskwarrior, Tech Tool). -bd
DykstrL Posted September 5, 2001 Posted September 5, 2001 Try burning the CD at 2x or even 1x speed. It does make a difference with some CD drives. Also, some drives cannot read 700mb disks. We have a 3 year old LaCie external drive that cannot read a 700mb CD.
Vin Posted September 5, 2001 Posted September 5, 2001 I think it's possibly an imac problem, my imac used to sporadically fail to read some or most of a disc which had been been burned in different 'sessions' other times the same disc would would read perfectly, Have you tried Apples CD rom updates or firmware updates
