September 5, 200124 yr my fm runtime database runs on all macs except the user's imac. the imac message is that the disc is unreadable. Any thoughts? Thanks Bob Sherman
September 5, 200124 yr Which disk is it referring to? The hard disk? The CD? Some CD drives in some iMacs won't read some brands of writable CD's. The CD's capable of being written a high speed seem to be more problematic. It also might be a problem with the file structure on that iMac. Make sure you run one of the appropriate utilities (Norton, Diskwarrior, Tech Tool). -bd
September 5, 200124 yr Try burning the CD at 2x or even 1x speed. It does make a difference with some CD drives. Also, some drives cannot read 700mb disks. We have a 3 year old LaCie external drive that cannot read a 700mb CD.
September 5, 200124 yr I think it's possibly an imac problem, my imac used to sporadically fail to read some or most of a disc which had been been burned in different 'sessions' other times the same disc would would read perfectly, Have you tried Apples CD rom updates or firmware updates
