Newbies munners1975 Posted March 12, 2010 Newbies Posted March 12, 2010 Hi, I had a database created for my business for which I have been using since 2002. I had it updated a few years back using Filemaker 8 and have encountered no issues. However, I have a part within the database called invoices. When I print the invoice the invoice closes and I am then unable to ammend it. I have allocated an invoice to the wrong client and they have returned it to me. I have attempted to ammend the details but the following message appears.. This action cannot be performed because this field is not modifiable. As you can probably tell I am not a programmer and I have basic computer skills. Could anyone advise how to overcome this problem as my client will only accept a computer generated invoice! Thanks Nick
mr_vodka Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Perhaps you are seeing a calculation field on the screen rather than the actual data field. You must modify the actual data field.
Newbies munners1975 Posted October 10, 2010 Author Newbies Posted October 10, 2010 Hi everyone. Managed to rectify my earlier issue!! However I have now encountered a new problem...PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT I AM NOT A PROGRAMMER. JUST YOUR AVERAGE JOE WHEN IT COMES TO THIS. We have had a new database created which we have just started to use. We have filemaker 8 v3. When I go into my invoice file it was designed so that I have 3 seperate invoice formats that I can chose from. One of the buttons created that I click on is for our export invoices. The problem is that the programmer has included VAT for this particular invoice. We do not charge VAT for exports. I have highlighted the field in browse mode but it wont let me overide the amount so that I can exclude the VAT. Obviously there is a calculation made within this field. It says this field cannot be modified. I have tried the simple help tab on this version and i cannot solve the problem. Can anyone help as I cannot create this invoice without the VAT excluded!! Thanks Nick
bcooney Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 You need to go back to the developer and have him change the functionality. If you have the master developer password, you could do this yourself, but it requires changing the scripting. You also could contact a local FM developer.
