Too lazy to read the book.. Are runtime solutions cross platform?

Featured Replies

Is there a way to make a runtime solution cross platform? I created one in Windoze and it won't work on my Mac as far as I can tell.

No application are cross-platform. Each must be compiled on the target platform, this is as true for Filemaker as it is for pretty much every application out there.

The actual database files are cross-platform however.

I am not opposing to the "No application are cross-platform". But it can be probably done. It will be bigger in size and offer no real benefits. Remember FAT (68k and PowerPC) applications? That was great!

These days there are great FAT FM plugins running in MacOS, MacX and PC from http://www.24u.cz

The rules say to first bind the data file in Windows FMD then in Mac FMD. You wind up with a runtime app for each file platform that uses the same data file.
