Steverino Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 I know I should know this, but I forget how to open a file without letting the opening script (set in File Options) execute. It's control-something, right? Also, has anybody also come up with a good system to manage opener files?
Vaughan Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 I've never heard of the Ctrl key to stop the opening script from running... One way to bypass the opening script is to call another script directly: from another file, perform a script in the other file. This will open the window and run the script, then leave the window open (unless the script closes it).
comment Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Escape or Command-period (Mac) - if user abort is allowed.
Steverino Posted April 7, 2010 Author Posted April 7, 2010 I'm pretty sure there's a trick that doesn't involve escape. Unless I'm thinking about auto-logging in with user name and password.
Vaughan Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 The Option key on Macs and Shift key on Windows forces the authentication dialog to come up to around the auto-login dialog. I've missed the bleedin' obvious: turn on the script debugger before opening the file and click the big red X when the script appears.
bcooney Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 I was going to say that, but didn't think it was available pre-10. I can't keep track anymore.
Steverino Posted April 8, 2010 Author Posted April 8, 2010 Thanks for all the great suggestions! (Unfortunately, we're not always opening the file in a place where we have FM Advanced.) Ultimately, I think we'll end up creating something to open the opener so as not to trigger the opening script.
