Backtassaar Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Hi there, I just downloaded ScriptMaster plugin (which is awesome, i can replace all of my plugins with this one and create easily another, but really working ones : It works on my another computer, which runs on Windows 7, Java ver. 1.6.0_17, Scriptmaster version 3.33, FM version 10Adv. But it doesnt run on my laptop - Windows XP Pro, Java ver. 1.6.0_17 (also tried 18, 19 and previous 15 - dindt run neither), Scriptmaster version also 3.33. I am using Filemaker server here - FM Server 10 Advanced. The main problem is, that i start filemaker, on the splash screen i manage to read that he is loading Scriptmaster plugin and everything runs like normal. But when i take a look on Edit->Preferences->Plugins, Scriptmaster isnt checked there and if i try, whole Filemaker crashes. I tried it on FM 9 Adv, FM 10 Adv and even FM 11 Trial - everywhere its the same. Do you guys have any advice what should i do? (Really i think the last thing i havent tried is deleting whole filemaker and installing it again)
Smef Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Check and see if you have any other plugins installed in the preferences menu. If you do, try removing them and see if you can get scriptmaster to load. This issue can happen when you are having permissions issues either on the plugin itself or for the My Documents folder, where the plugin will try to write a log file to. Check and make sure that the My Documents folder for the user you are logged in as is intact and not blocked in some way, and also that the permissions on the plugin do not prevent FileMaker from accessing it. The plugins will probably work with older versions of Java, but I recommend using Java 6 Update 19, which is the most recent version of Java and what the plugins have been tested for.
Backtassaar Posted April 14, 2010 Author Posted April 14, 2010 Thanks - thats what i call a quick response. Altough unuseful : ad 1) Yes, I have another plugins installed there, but those are the same plugins (same versions etc) which are also on the second machine (where it works) ad 2) I am not using any permissions on my laptop, so no problem there either (i checked My Documents folder, and ScriptMaster is writing there the log file, so i am attaching it to this post) I tried downloading and installing Java ver. 19, to be up-to-date, but it didnt solve that problem either. Tommorow i will also try to reinstall my Filemaker and see if that helps.. 360Works_ScriptMaster_FMAdvanced.txt
Backtassaar Posted April 21, 2010 Author Posted April 21, 2010 Nope, didnt work either.. What the hell is wrong with my computer, that everywhere else it works?
Smef Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Try removing the other plugins, even though they are working on your other machines. Try taking them out and giving scriptmaster another try.
Backtassaar Posted April 21, 2010 Author Posted April 21, 2010 Tried. Didnt help either. Only new thing i found out is that when i click on checkbox to check it and turn Scriptmaster plugin available, i got a message Filemaker Pro: "360Works ScriptMaster" could not be enabled. When i click on it for second time, FM falls. But that probably wont help you :-/
Jesse Barnum Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 I checked your log file and that is not an error I've seen before, so there is something unusual going on. Please try launching FileMaker again, and check to see if a file gets written to this location: C:/Documents and Settings/YourUserName/Local Settings/Temp/360Works_ScriptMaster.jar If not, then something is preventing that file from getting written (maybe a permissions problem), and that prevents the plugin from loading. If you see the file there, let me know and I will send you a development build with more logging enabled.
Backtassaar Posted May 12, 2010 Author Posted May 12, 2010 Hi Jesse, I checked it, that file is normally being created after filemaker launch. Can you send me that developer version so I can try that? My e-mail is [email protected] (or just send me some ftp link or whatever). Thanks, Matt
Newbies timlit Posted June 4, 2010 Newbies Posted June 4, 2010 (edited) Try this: - place the plug-in outside the system drive - change the Security options to full control for admin, or best - all users. (right click->Properties-> Security) - put the plug-in (back)to the Extensions folder Edited June 4, 2010 by Guest
Backtassaar Posted June 24, 2010 Author Posted June 24, 2010 Did you find anything from that log file?
Jesse Barnum Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 Hey - couldn't tell much from the log file. Would you mind doing a remote screen sharing session with me? Maybe if I can see the problem happening I can troubleshoot it better. Give me a call if you'd like to do this.
Newbies timlit Posted July 30, 2010 Newbies Posted July 30, 2010 All right, now. My fresh call (just fixed the same bug): on the Extension folder, unclick the Read-only attribute (General tab). Will sound weird, only use the native Windows File Explorer for the operation to get the sure-fire result. Hope this helps.
