tunin Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Hi, as the title says, I am wondering if this is possible. I need to get the sum of several repeating columns, i.e. Repeating-COLUMN-1 field-1 + Repeating-COLUMN-2 field-1 + Repeating-COLUMN-3 field-1 = Repeating-COLUMN-4 field-1 Repeating-COLUMN-1 field-2 + Repeating-COLUMN-2 field-2 + Repeating-COLUMN-3 field-2 = Repeating-COLUMN-4 field-2 At the end, I need to sum the Repeating-COLUMN-4 which is not a problem. I've attached the table I built for this and the base model XLS file. http://www.filesavr.com/archive_5 FM file user name: admin no password
comment Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 This is possible by making the fourth field a calculation field = RepeatingField1 + RepeatingField2 + RepeatingField3 However, I would strongly suggest you use a portal to a related table instead of the repeating fields.
Søren Dyhr Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 While I fully support Comments suggestion, should you perhaps take a look at how a more embraced use of repeating calculations could look like, since what you seems to try closely resembles what some would call a cross-tab ... http://edoshin.skeletonkey.com/2006/12/crosstab_report.html#more But you have ignored that this forum is for sharing tips, not asking for how-to's I would report this to the moderator in order to get it moved! --sd
tunin Posted April 28, 2010 Author Posted April 28, 2010 Thank you for your help. Mod. moved this already and I am sorry for missing where to post, I'll be more careful next time.
