Ugh -- maddening little detail I can't pin down.

I made a solution a while ago with a little interface for creating child records from the parent context. A portal displays the current child records so that the user sees what's already been catalogued. Works fine.

When there are no child records, the portal displays a first row with blank fields, and the little "Goto and "Delete" buttons I put into the portal. When a record is created, the new child is displayed and the blank row appears below it. Fine with me.

But now I copied this portal and re-purposed it for use in the child table for managing *its* child records (grandchildren of the first table. I pointed the portal to the proper table changed the fields, and it works fine -- *but it no longer displays the blank row* (or buttons). So when there are no child records, it's just a plain grey portal.

To tell the trutyh, I'm not sure whether or not I *want* to see the blank row & buttons -- but I sure need to figure out how to make it behave one way or the other!

What have I forgotten? :

Hi Wickerman,

'Allow creation of related records' in the portal is controlled in the graph. When you open the relationship box (clicking the line between them), at the bottom is checkbox for the child table.

By Jove! That Relationships graph really is kind of important after all, isn't it?

Thanks LaRetta for your help here, and in the other thread your responded to!
