Newbies A Random Dan Posted May 29, 2010 Newbies Posted May 29, 2010 I currently have a FileMaker solution where I’ve created a script that can create a folder (for relative files) for a record once a few of its fields are filled in. The folder is created in a designated location on the same computer (a Mac) that FileMaker is running on using the Perform AppleScript script step. I’m very poor at AppleScript but was able to create some simple scripts to work with the directories. To open the folders, I simply use the Send Event script step. However, I am now setting up that FileMaker solution to be accessed on a local network by BOTH Windows and Mac computers and the scripts to create, rename, and open the folder do not work over the network. Questions: What do I have to do to modify folders over the network? Do I need to set up permissions for it? Can I use AppleScript? How can I open the folder using the Send Event script step? Or do I need to use something else?
bruceR Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 However, I am now setting up that FileMaker solution to be accessed on a local network by BOTH Windows and Mac computers... Please say more about exactly what you mean by this. It doesn't sound like you're using FileMaker Server; what *are* you doing?
Newbies A Random Dan Posted May 31, 2010 Author Newbies Posted May 31, 2010 FileMaker is hosted on the client, I do not have FileMaker Server. The folders are all created on the computer that hosts FileMaker. This works just fine on THAT computer, but now I want to remote connect to that FileMaker using other computers on the network, which works just fine using Remote Connect. The problem occurs when I try to create the folder on one of those computers. Shall I post the scripts I currently use to create folders?
