July 18, 201015 yr This is the last issue I can't find a solution for for my database. It would be very helpful to know if it's possible in v6 to change 2 of the attributes to text in a field. If the text is selected, it would be nice to set that selected text to bold and to the colour navy blue. Is such a thing possible in v6? Thanks much!! Much appreciated in advance.
July 18, 201015 yr Unfortunately, the text attribute Functions were introduced in version 7. There are several Threads in the past on how to do workarounds in the earlier versions, most involve a container fields and/or stacking the fields. I'm out of town today, but do a search for some of the keywords such as [color:blue]+Color +Fields or [color:blue]+Color +Text (use the pluses as shown in the search. Use Advance Search, and check the box for Searching the Subject only, and to [color:blue]return only threads with Attachments. When I get home later today, I'll try and find a couple for you. HTH Lee
July 18, 201015 yr Hi Diana, NightWing Enterprises has several demos in fp5 format which will handle your request (in various ways). Which would work best, only you could decide: Finesse and Added Value Check particularly Formatting All Occurrences of a User-Specified Word/Phrase in a Field. I believe that you could adapt it to copy your selected text and paste into the global format string. All options would require script. Keep in mind that using copy/paste will destroy the Users clipboard. You could store their clipboard contents to container and then replace it when finished or you can use something like ClipManager (it's been a while, I THINK that's what it was called). HTH Lee Thank you! I did find some but I'm not sure now that I have the skills in FMP6 to do these complicated things. I've been battling for 2 or 3 years but there comes a time when you have to "give up", as it were. I think I'll just have to keep doing this part manually. FMP has surely provided these options in later versions so that they're not so cumbersome. Perhaps later on down the road, I'll consider upgrading; but for now, have to still live with my FMP6. I've gone back and changed the text colour to the violet in my FMP6 that's at the top right-most corner of the colour swatch box. This way, I won't keep forgetting which blue to use . Thanks for everyone's help. Much appreciated. Edited July 18, 201015 yr by Guest

I think I will check these out. If they're not as cumbersome as other workarounds so that even I can figure them out , maybe I can get this to work. Well, only time will tell. Ach, destroying the user's clipboard is not a problem since the user is just me for this one! Actually, good to point out. If it were an issue, I could just use a clipboard keeper so that even when something is overwritten by FMP6, the keeper keeps several clipboard entries anyway. Thanks. Will check out this ClipManager, too; I'll see if I can find a reference to it. Cheers and thanks much! :)
