Ian_D Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Hi, This is my first post so hopefully this is in the correct forum section. I've developed a DB for my business to track time spent on projects along with actions etc, however I'm having a little trouble on the timesheet entry screen. The issue related to muli users using it over a network (hosted on a local machine) The file has two tables - one with the information on the current user, dates etc to calculate the date for Monday, Tuesday etc (Al Global Fields or unstored calculations based on global fields) and the other with all the data to be stored for each time entry such as the hours work by who on which project on a particular day. The issue arises when using two people try to enter data using the entry screen at the same time. All the fields on the table are global, however it references the fields in the main time table which are obviously not global and specific to the record and as such I get record locking issues. I tested it by creating 2 records on the data entry table and making one user work on record 1 of 2 and the other on 2 of 2 and it works fine, but I'm not sure why this should happen. If you look at the actual field value for the single record it changes based on the record being modifed and shows the referenced fields as well as the data being entered for the global fields within the data entry tables. I hope this makes ome sort of sence and I've attached my file to help you undertsand my setup. Any help would be appreciated. ID_Time.zip
Ian_D Posted August 24, 2010 Author Posted August 24, 2010 I should also add that the time being added through the entry screen is displayed and edited in a filterd portal, however I'm not sure if this is related to the problem. Thanks in advance
Ian_D Posted August 25, 2010 Author Posted August 25, 2010 :) my mistake... this should be ok now. Thanks ID_Time.zip
