I am using FMP 11 Advanced and need to buy a new computer. I'm looking at Windows 7 64-bit OS but see that Filemaker doesn't officially support it:

http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5587/kw/windows%207%2064-bit

On the other hand, Microsoft alleges compatibility:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Details.aspx?type=Software&p=Filemaker%20Pro&v=FileMaker%2c%20Inc.&uid=11&l=en&pf=0π=3&s=FileMaker%20Pro&os=64-bit

I'm just wondering if anyone is using Filemaker on a Windows 64-bit OS and with what results.

Thanks!

It is contradictory, huh? I don't know where M.S. got it's information, but FM11 is NOT supported in 64 bit mode. Or as FM puts it, they haven't tested it fully, so they can't support it. Makes sense.

But I've been running it that way for a while now with only one side effect -

We're also using Office 2010. A plugin that we're using from Productive Computing that interacts with O2010 will simply not work. It works fine in 32bit mode, but not 64.

Thanks for the info, Brent. Which version of Windows 7 are you using? I use Office 2007 without any plug-in so should be OK there.

I know this is a Windows based post, but it's been working fine on 64 bit Snow Leopard for some time.

Speaking of 64 bit, anybody hear anything as to when it's going to be a 64 bit application?

We're using Win 7 Enterprise, 64 bit.

As long as you're not using plugins, then you should be OK. I haven't seen any problems running under 64 bit, but I'm sure there are some. Just be aware that if you call FileMaker with a problem, they won't help you. The first thing they'll ask is what OS you're using.
