Newbies j4mes Posted September 9, 2010 Newbies Posted September 9, 2010 Hi there, I have a Filemaker Database on my computer, and I recently copied this database and loaded it on two other computers. Now there are three copies of the same file, but the two other people that use it are not on the same network as me normally so over time we will all be working off different versions of the database! Is there a way we can all work remotely using one master database and connecting over the internet? Thanks a bunch, any and all suggestions are welcome. J
David Jondreau Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 I recommend using a hosting service like MacUSA or Point in Space.
John May - Point In Space Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Have a look at our services: http://www.pointinspace.com/ We've been providing professional FileMaker Hosting for over 11 years. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions either here or off-list to jmay(at)pointinspace.com. Thanks! - John
Newbies j4mes Posted September 10, 2010 Author Newbies Posted September 10, 2010 Hi guys, Thanks for the response, they look like good options. Am I right in thinking that IWP through Filemaker Pro is only worth considering if the others users were on the same network? In this case, they are not, so I guess I will have to go down the Server route. J
Wim Decorte Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 No, IWP is a viable option but you have to consider these options: - is your own network connection robust enough to handle the hosting? - can you live with the limitations of IWP?
