Field update priority

Featured Replies

If I am correct, fields inside a table get updated (and validated)in the order they were created right?

I think it would be useful if one could have access to that order, similar to the Tab order in Layouts.

Thus, editable in a separate column, the developer could re-arrange the creation order of the fields, compensating for something you forgot to put before.

What do you guys think?

Pointless.

I am sure my skills are limited (so as my perception) regarding advanced (or not) programming matters. However, wouldn't it be nicer and more community-oriented if some answers were accompanied with some justification (even a poor one)?

Many of your answers have been helpful for me so far, so why bother the comment if it is going to be one word long (I suppose you 've already outlined my profile as a FM user)?

Anyway, thanks.

I like the idea of filemaker allowing a developer to have access to the "Field ID". I have seen many times that this would have made rewriting a legacy file alot easier to deal with. Having said that, this is what filemaker uses to "tie" tables together (not the names associated) and if someone was to go changing them willy nilly in an existing solution it would certainly break stuff in the file. Prehaps as an option in filemaker advanced, with lots of warnings not to do it. (but there are times it would be the best way)
